OAKWOOD HILLS PROPERTY OWNERS ASSOCIATION
HERB LEACH PARK AND BEACH
Established August 5, 1942
Although most people enjoyed the mild winter, the limited time the lake had ice cover has created an extended growth period for the lake weeds. Many people have commented that this is the worst they have seen it.
This accelerated growth makes it a challenge to set up the swim area raft and bouys. At this time, it is a waste of resources to set up the swim area to only have to remove everything to allow access for the weed harvester. We plan to hold off until right after the first lake weed harvest is complete. This should be done, no later than June 14th. Once the surrounding weeds are removed, we will be able to set the bouys in place to help keep the weeds from creeping into the area.
As most of you know, we put a lot of effort into managing the muck and weeds in our swim area. This season we have to deal with this setback and work with the timing of the Bohners Lake weed management plan and the DNR.
Want to get involved? We will have an open position June 8th. Come to the annual meeting to express your interest.
Have a question or concern? Contact us.
